Fuel Oil
Fuel Oil is a fraction obtained from petroleum distillation, either as a distillate or a residue. Broadly speaking, Fuel Oil is any liquid petroleum product, which is burned in a furnace or boiler for the generation of heat or used in an engine for the generation of power, except oils having a flash point of approximately 40 oC (104 o F). Fuel Oil is made of long hydrocarbon chains, particularly alkanes, cycloalkanes and aromatics.

Base Oil
Base Oil is the name given to lubrication grade oils, initially produced from refining crude oil or through chemical synthesis (synthetic base oil). Base Oil is typically defined as oil with a boiling point range between 550 and 1050 F, consisting of hydrocarbons with 18 to 40 carbon atoms. This Base Oil can be either paraffinic or napthenic in nature depending on the chemical structure of the molecules.

Bitumen
Bitumen is the residual fraction, which obtained by fractional distillation of crude oil. Bitumen is a mixture of organic liquids that are highly viscous, black, sticky, and entirely soluble in carbon disulfide and composed primarily of highly condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Bitumen is primarily used for paving roads and other applications.
